Performance Of The Week

Whilst Oscar’s performance against Juventus was something special there was another youngster who shone on their Champions League debut. Going up against the might of the Russian Powerhouse that is Zenit St. Petersburg, who can now boast of having the likes of Hulk and Axel Witsel amongst their ranks, saw another Spanish wonderkid take centre stage and lead debt-stricken Malaga to a 3-0 victory. The 20 year old who made the move from Valencia last season for a fee of €6 million, impressed with his technique, direct running and two fantastic goals, worthy enough to rival Oscar’s brace seen at Stamford Bridge the following night.

With the departures of Santi Carzorla, Salomon Rondon and the retirement of Ruud Van Nisterlrooy, Malaga will be needing the young Spaniard to step up and demonstrate his capabilities at the La Rosaleda this season. Not a stranger to the media hype and the onslaught of transfer speculation, Isco has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham in the past, with the latter seeming to be the most likely to make a move for the Malaga born starlet before the end of the just recently closed transfer window. And if performances such as the one seen on Tuesday night are anything to go by we could yet see the youngster applying his trade in the Premier League in the very near future.
